Today we celebrate a glorious feast! No kidding, it's even one of the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary; the fourth glorious mystery in fact. The feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary recognizes Mary's singular participation in her Son's Resurrection and an anticipation of the resurrection of other Christians. (Pope Pius XII, Munificentissimus Deus, 1950)
So, we see that this feast of Mary not only tells us something about the Mother of God, but also about the expectation that every Christian can have about our final destiny.
Sadly, because bishops across the country have set aside the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation, and, even if they hadn't it would have been set aside anyway because it falls on a Saturday this year, many will not take the opportunity to celebrate this great feast with holy Mass. I would heartily recommend however that all AT LEAST pray the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary in honor of this great feast.
