Our Catholic faith is filled with helps for those in need. Over the centuries we have faced any number of pandemics / plagues. The Church has recognized certain "creatures" which have proven useful in warding off the effects of such contagions. These three creatures are salt, holy water, and olive oil. When exorcised and blessed they can be used in the home to invoke God's protection.
I will be happy to exorcise and bless these items according to the rites of the Church; you need only bring them. Another powerful protection to homes is the St. Benedict Medal. I am happy to bless these for use as well.
These items are not talismans or objects of idolatrous superstition. They are means of invoking God's divine protection; and they are given to us by the Church to be used.
Pope Benedict XVI encouraged priests to use the internet and other means of social communication more effectively. I have found this to be a good avenue for evangelization, catechesis, and for applying Catholic teaching to the goings ons of the world in which we live - and sometimes to just share my thoughts. With this in mind, please be charitable and pray for me as I pray for each of you in my daily Mass and prayers.
Father, please excuse my ignorance. But, in what way does an individual use blessed olive oil?
